Organic Milk, Juices and Plant-Based Beverages
Natural Enjoyment in Every Sip
A glass of not-from-concentrate juice at the breakfast table or a refreshing fruit spritzer at an evening barbecue: non-alcoholic beverages suit many different moments throughout the day. The Violey range extends from cloudy fruit and vegetable juices and tea-based beverages to alcohol-free spirits. Many organic products contain no added sugar or artificial flavourings, allowing whole fruits and herbal extracts to take centre stage. Alongside milk from certified organic production, you will also find a wide selection of plant-based beverages, as well as fruit powders and syrups for cocktails and homemade beverages.
What is the difference between not-from-concentrate juice and juice from concentrate?
Not-from-concentrate juice is bottled directly after pressing or briefly treated to extend its shelf life, without removing water and adding it back later. Juice from concentrate is first concentrated, then transported and, once at its destination, diluted with water to drinking strength. This makes transport and storage easier. Both types have their own merits, depending on personal preference.
Are organic fruit juices automatically lower in sugar?
No, organic fruit juices are not automatically lower in sugar. The organic label refers to cultivation and processing in accordance with the EU Organic Regulation, not to the sugar content of the juice. Fruit juices contain the naturally occurring sugars from the fruits used, regardless of whether they were grown organically or conventionally. The exact sugar content can be found in the nutrition declaration on the label or packaging.
Which plant-based beverages are best suited for cooking?
Unsweetened oat and soya beverages with a neutral flavour are particularly suitable for cooking and baking. Soya beverages are relatively high in protein and can therefore act as a good thickening agent in baking or for sauces. Oat beverages usually have a mild flavour and go well with many sweet and savoury dishes. Almond beverages and rice beverages are often thinner in consistency and are better suited to light sauces, desserts or beverages. For coffee-based beverages, there are special barista-style plant-based beverages which, due to their higher fat content, froth up well.
What does “naturally cloudy” mean in relation to juice?
Naturally cloudy juice has not been filtered and therefore contains fine fruit pulp particles that give it its characteristic appearance. Clear, filtered juices undergo an additional processing step in which these suspended particles are removed. As a result, naturally cloudy juices often taste fruitier and fuller. For cocktails and mixed beverages, filtered juices are often preferred for visual reasons.
Tip: How to enjoy naturally cloudy juice
Naturally cloudy juices develop a fine sediment over time. This is completely normal and shows that valuable fruit pulp and suspended particles have been preserved. Simply give the bottle a quick shake before opening, and the fruit pulp and juice will mix evenly again. This way, you can enjoy the full flavour right down to the last sip.
