Voelkel Green Smoothie

:

Who has not planned to pay more attention to the diet? In Germany this wish has been in the Top 5 of New Year's resolution for years, just after less stress, more time for the family and exercising more. But why is it so difficult to change our eating habits? On the one hand, it is due to outdated dietary concepts. To skip meals or to stop eating certain foods is perceived as a loss. However, a bad feeling is not a good basis for a long-term change. When changing the diet, you should not concentrate on what you are not allowed to do now; instead, many nutritionists advise to focuse on enriching the menu with higher-quality foods from the beginning on. Thus we link the resolution with a positive feeling - as for example with new recipes.

It is particularly difficult to stick to the resolutions, if one has taken on too much. This becomes especially obvious in the first week of January. Then the fitness studios are packed with people who regularly exercise, do without sweets and want to restrict their alcohol consumption. In addition, they also want to learn a foreign language, live thriftier and tidy up more often. However, only the fewest have the willpower to implement everything at the same time. But why is it like that? Some psychologists assume that willpower is not an ability, but a resource. In the morning it is still in abundant supply. With every decision we have to make during the day, however, it becomes smaller. That's why after a long working day, it is so hard for us to brace ourself up for exercising. And at dinner one tends to compromise more often than at breakfast. Because after a hard day, we rather want to be rewarded than challenged. The result is often a pizza instead of a balanced meal.

In order to preserve willpower, one could simply stop making decisions during the day. For most, of course, this is not feasible. A much better strategy is the establishment of good habits. Everything that is done by habit (e.g. brushing teeth) is not thought through intensively. For something to be a habit, you must have done it for at least 21 days. After 66 days, the new pattern of behavior is embeded. Behavioral researchers recommend that only one new habit should be introduced per month. Regarding a nutritional change, for example one might incorporate green smoothies into the diet. Frequently, meals are also replaced by smoothies to get rid of unnecessary pounds. For green smoothies, fresh fruit and green vegetables are pureed with mineral water in the blender. The two superfoods spinach and kale are particularly popular as basic ingredients.

Because the body can digest smoothies relatively quickly, one doesn't become very tired after consuming them. This makes them the ideal snack for a lunch break.
