Naturata Organic Cocoa Powder

:

San Francisco is a breathtaking and diverse metropolis in northern California. The city with the famous Golden Gate Bridge is bordered on three sides by the sea. In between there are numerous steep hills. Roads with an ascent of up to 31.5 degrees make driving and especially parking a real challenge. More relaxed is a ride with the cable car. The cabins of this cable car handle every ascent effortlessly. And their leisurely pace allows passengers to enjoy the spectacular view. But it is the most fun to explore the city on foot. Whether Haight-Ashbury, Mission District or China Town, each district has its own unique character. This diversity has made San Fransico world famous. In the late 1960s, the city was a center of the hippie movement. China Town is the largest Chinese quarter outside Asia. And the Hispanic influenced Mission District is known for its colorful murals. San Francisco is considered one of the most tolerant and cosmopolitan cities in the United States. What is considered alternative elsewhere is quite commonplace here.

Hotdogs, hamburgers and fries are considered typical American foods in Europe. However, this fast food cliché does not apply to San Francisco. On the contrary: The city is a true trendsetter for organic foods. Smoothie bars, vegetarian restaurants and farmers markets are well attended. In the west of California indulgence and a conscious lifestyle go hand in hand. Supposedly there are almost as many yoga studios in San Fransico as cafés. And because one third of the inhabitants are Asians, tea houses have also been established outside of China Town. In addition to coffee and tea yet another hot drink is very popular: Hot chocolate. Many chocolatiers also offer their creations in liquid form. And because it's hard to resist the aroma of a good hot chocolate, it's also on the menu of most coffee shops. However, these creations do not have much in common with the simple milk mixed drinks that many still know from their childhood.

Hot chocolate, drinking chocolate or cocoa are among a group of drinks made with cocoa-containing ingredients and water, milk or vegetable drinks. However, four types of preparation can be distinguished. The simplest method is stirring cocoa-containing instant powder into milk. Many of these ready-mixes consist to a large extent of sugar, which covers the actual cocoa taste. In southern Europe, Switzerland and Austria, the preparation with a piece of chocolate is common. Stirred into hot milk or water, a creamy cacao drink is created. In Mexico and parts of the Caribbean, whole roasted cocoa beans are ground into a paste. This paste is frothed in water and refined with cinnamon and almonds. The result is relatively close to the mother of all chocolates, the ”Xocolatl“. Already the ancient Mayas and Aztecs created a vitalizing drink made of ground cocoa beans, chilli, vanilla and honey. It was probably drunk only cold and was reserved exclusively for the rulers and priests. The ”Xocolatl“ did not have much to do with what we expect nowadays of a hot chocolate.

But there is still another way to prepare hot chocolate, namely with cocoa powder. It is not as easy to mix as instant powder, but has a lot of the typical cocoa flavor. Because cocoa powder is difficult to dissolve without any additives, it must first be stirred separately with a little bit of liquid. This mixture now can easily be stirred into hot milk. Pure, such a cocoa drink has a tart, strong and multi-faceted cocoa flavor. If you like it sweeter, you can refine the cocoa drink with honey, syrup, agave syrup or coconut blossom sugar.

For really tasty hot chocolate, you do not have to go to San Francisco first. With the Organic Cocoa Powders of Naturata you can also prepare them at home.
