Coteaux Nantais Fruit Puree

:

What to do when having a thinking barrier? Certainly everyone has developed a completely individual strategy. And quite often they are whimsical and amusing. Friedrich Schiller always had a shriveled apple in the desk drawer. The smell of it is said to have inspired his literary heights. Isaac Newton also was inspired by apples, even though a bit more directly. The English physicist liked to take a nap under an apple tree. One day an apple fell on his head. The result was not only a bump, but also a flash of genius. The question of why the apple fell straight down and not sideward kept Newton busy since this incident. And thus he began to deal with gravity intensively and developed his famous theory of gravitation.

In literature and mythology no other fruit is as present as the apple. For thousands of years it has been accompanying us as a symbol of love, fertility and partnership. In ancient times, the apple was considered an aphrodisiac: Allegedly Greeks who wanted to get engaged threw an apple in direction of their loved ones. If it was caught this was a wedding vow. And in the wedding night, the couple shared an apple as well. The Romans were very keen on the juicy fruit as well. Because of the good taste, but perhaps also because of the intent to improve their love life, the Romans began to plant apple orchards across the Mediterranean. Again thanks to the Romans apples were cultivated already in the first century throughout the Germanic Rhine Valley. There already were wild apple trees North of the Alps but the woody apples were small, hard fruits with a sour taste. Only by grafting and straining the dessert apples we know and love today could be developed.

In the cultivation of frui, the apple is of paramount importance. The main reason for this is that it can be used most diversely in comparison with all other domestic fruits. There is no other fruit with so many species and cultivated forms. Therefore the apple is considered the fruit par excellence by many fruit farmers. The processing capabilities of apples are endless: Apple juice, apple sauce, apple pie, baked apples or, more recently, concentrated as sweetener ...
