Bonga Red Mountain Coffee Capsules

:

For many Western Europeans, the day starts with a cup of coffee. Only with the aroma of finely ground coffee beans the spirits awaken. Coffee is the most popular hot drink among Germans. But it was not always like that. It was not until the beginning of the 18th century that coffee-drinking became fashionable. At court, in the salons of wealthy ladies or in the coffee house, the intellectual elite met to chat over a cup of coffee. Thanks to its invigorating effect, coffee was particularly popular in night-time discussions. Not infrequently it even was the topic of conversation. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe also investigated the cause of the stimulating effect of coffee. Undoubtably, the miracle drink from the Orient had to contain a particularly awakening substance. But even the universal genius Goethe wasn’t able to solve this mystery.

After his famous journey to Italy, Goethe retreated more and more often in Jena. In contrast to Weimar, he hardly had any obligations in the university town and could write and experiment in peace. In addition, there were many opportunities to meet interesting natural scientists. One of them was the then unknown chemist Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge. He was intensively concerned with the effect of toxins in plants, e.g. datura. Among other things, he succeeded in producing an elixir from cooked henbane juice, which temporarily made test persons go blind. Thus he helped an acquaintance to duck out of the military service. A few days after the mustering, he regained his eyesight and could enjoy his life in peace. Goethe liked this story so much that he wanted to get to know the young scientist. Because the latter impressed him with his huge knowledge, the prince of poets wanted him to examine coffee beans. In 1820 Friedlieb Runge succeeded in isolating pure caffeine from coffee beans. Therefore he is also regarded as its discoverer. Today, caffeine is the world's most commonly consumed pharmacologically active substance of all.

In addition to coffee also green tea and black tea contain the alkaloid caffeine. In tea, however, the active ingredient was previously referred to as ”theine“. This was due to the fact that caffeine in tea is differently released than in coffee. When drinking coffee, it is immediately released after contact with the stomach acid. Thus, it unfolds its effect very quickly. For tea, the caffeine is released in the intestine. As a result, the effect starts later, but lasts longer. When looking for a stimulant for in between, the Southern Europeans tend to prefer coffee and espresso. And how multifaceted espresso can be, is shown by the Bonga Red Mountain Wild Coffee from Original Food. The 100% Arabica beans from certified wild harvest are hand-picked and gently roasted.
