Bio Planète Organic Coconut Oil

:

Christmas can be significantly longer under palm trees than under fir trees. The country with the longest Christmas season is the Philippines. The official celebrations there begin on September 1st and last until Epiphany in January. The family reunions ensure the greatest anticipation. Many Filipinos working overseas only see their families at Christmas. But does the Christmas spirit really arise at an average temperature of 27°C? The majority of the over 100 million Filipinos will answer this question with a yes. There is no snow, but there are light chains and Christmas decorations for four months. You can also see Christmas trees in more and more homes and businesses. However, they are usually made of plastic. Because firs and spruces would not withstand the tropical climate in the western Pacific for long.

In the Philippines, the coconut palm is not an alternative to the Christmas tree, but it is irreplaceable in other areas. The coconut palm was already cultivated in the coastal regions of the western Pacific over 3,000 years ago. Since then it has been an indispensable source of raw materials. While its flexible wood is used as building material for houses and boats, baskets, ropes, carpets and hammocks are woven from the fibers of the coconut shells. The juicy pulp of the ripe coconut is a staple food in many Pacific countries. Unripe, still green coconuts, on the other hand, are popular thirst quenchers. Because inside there is almost a liter of refreshing coconut water. However, most of the coconuts harvested today are used to make coconut oil.

Coconut oil has a significantly better heat resistance than most other vegetable oils. With a smoke point above 190°C and a flash point of almost 300°C, it is ideal for searing meat and vegetables in a wok over high heat. In the countries of origin, coconut oil is not only used for cooking, but has been used as a natural care product for skin and hair for ages. At temperatures below 24°C, coconut oil has a buttery consistency. It can even get solid in winter. However, this has no influence on quality and taste. Many people mistake solid coconut oil for coconut fat. These are two completely different products, though. Coconut oil is pressed from coconut meat. Because it is not processed further, it has a subtle coconut taste. Coconut oil, on the other hand, is obtained from the dried grated coconut meat. It is then often further refined, bleached and deodorized. In contrast to coconut oil, coconut fat usually has a neutral taste.
