Allos Organic Vegetable Spreads

:

Many people dream of growing their own vegetables. Theoretically, you only need a spade and a few square meters of soil. Simply dig, plant vegetable seeds, water every now and then and harvest after a short period of time. But it's not as easy as it sounds. It starts with the fact that it is often difficult for lay persons to distinguish weeds from crops. Also basic knowledge about soil quality, crop rotation and plant care are important for cultivating vegetables.

Many successful gardeners nowadays work according to the principle of four-field farming. In doing so, an area is cultivated for three years in succession with different crops. In the fourth year the soil can rest. With this method still 75% of the patches are available for the ambitious gardener. However, one cannot simply exchange white cabbage with green kale for a successful crop rotation. Experts distinguish the cultivated vegetables according to their nutrient requirements. A distinction is made here between light, moderate and heavy feeders. For the optimal crop rotation, in the first year, a strong feeder, e.g. pumpkin, cabbage or potato is cultivated. Carrots, chard or salads are among the moderate feeders, which are sown in the following year. The third year is followed by the use of light feeders such as beans, radishes or onions. Every fourth year, a green manure is sown, so that the soil can replenish its nutrient supply and regenerate itself.

Homegrown vegetables always taste the best. For newcomers to the garden, the anticipation for self-grown lettuce, cabbage, carrots, turnips and cucumbers is especially great. With a lot of euphoria large vegetable patches are often created. However, many amateur gardeners underestimate the work one has to do until one can harvest a lettuce head. Experienced gardeners therefore recommend to start with a small bed and half a dozen vegetable varieties. By doing so, beginners are not immediately overchallenged. If you bring the necessary endurance, after a few months you can harvest your own vegetables.
