Delicious organic cereals
Spoonfuls of indulgence
That first spoonful of muesli in the morning sets the tone for the day: crunchy and nutty, creamy and mild, aromatic and fruity, or chocolatey and sweet. The Violey range of cereals from certified organic farming includes everything from simple rolled oats and warm porridges to carefully crafted granola blends with nuts, seeds and dried fruit, as well as fruity amaranth mueslis, crispy cinnamon flakes and nutty chocolate pillows. If a low sugar content is important to you, you’ll find mueslis and porridges from a wide variety of organic brands with no added sugar. Gluten-free alternatives made from rice, corn or buckwheat complete the range. The green EU organic logo under the EU Organic Regulation and national certification marks such as Demeter, Naturland and Bioland identify products as certified organic.
What is the difference between organic and conventional cereals?
Organic cereals are made from grains grown in accordance with the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation. Stricter rules also apply during processing, for example regarding the number of permitted additives. You can recognise certified organic products by the EU organic logo and certification labels such as Demeter or Bioland.
Which cereals are suitable for a gluten-free diet?
Gluten-free cereals are made from grains such as rice, corn or millet, as well as buckwheat, all of which are naturally gluten-free or have been processed in accordance with relevant certification standards. Look out for the ‘gluten-free’ label on the packaging, as even naturally gluten-free ingredients may come into contact with gluten-containing grains during processing. In the Violey range, gluten-free products are clearly identified and labelled as such.
What is the difference between muesli and granola?
Muesli is a mixture of raw or lightly roasted cereal flakes, often combined with nuts, seeds, dried fruit and even chocolate. Granola, on the other hand, is made by mixing the cereals with oil and a sweetener and baking them in the oven to form crispy clusters. This gives it the characteristic crunch and a slightly sweeter flavour. Depending on your taste and preferences, you’ll find a wide variety of muesli and granola options in the Violey Shop.
Are there any organic cereals with no added sugar?
Yes, at Violey you can find a wide variety of organic cereals with no added sugar, such as natural rolled oats or unsweetened muesli. The label ‘no added sugar’ refers to added sugar, not to the natural sugar content of the ingredients used. We display the list of ingredients and the nutritional information table on the product page.
Jumbo oats or fine oats: What is the difference?
Jumbo oats are made from whole oat kernels. After steaming, the kernels are rolled, which helps the flakes retain their firm texture. They are particularly suitable for muesli, baked goods or toppings. Fine oats are made from oat kernels that have been chopped beforehand. They absorb liquid more quickly and create a particularly creamy consistency. This makes them the first choice for porridge and cereal-based dishes or delicate batters.
Can I enjoy organic cereals with plant-based drinks instead of milk?
Yes, plant-based drinks can easily be used as an alternative to milk. Oat drink has a mild, slightly sweet flavour of its own and goes well with classic muesli or porridge without overpowering the taste of the cereals. The subtle nutty note of almond drinks particularly enhances the flavour of granola or nut and muesli mixes. Coconut drinks have a more intense, sweet and exotic flavour and go well with tropical fruit muesli or granola with desiccated coconut.
Tip: Storing cereals correctly
Store opened cereals in an airtight tin or resealable bag to prevent them from going soft due to humidity or absorbing odours. Make sure to store the cereals in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Granola with a high fat and nut content should be consumed a little sooner, as fats can oxidise more quickly. This can have a detrimental effect on the flavour of the crunchy muesli.
