Application:
Wash the chana dal and soak in plenty of cold water for 8-12 hours. Then drain the water and rinse the dal. Boil 1 cup of dal with about 3 cups of fresh water once and simmer gently with the lid closed. Cook until al dente in about 15 minutes or about 45 minutes for dal. Do not add salt until cooked.
