Bioladen Organic Spirali. Spirelli, fusilli and spirali are all the same type of pasta, known by different names. The name ‘Spirelli’, derived from ‘Spirale’, originates from German usage. The term ‘fusilli’ is based on the Italian word ‘fuso’ (spindle). To achieve the twisted shape, the pasta used to be wound around a spindle. ‘Spirali’ is simply Italian adapted to German. The word combines the German word ‘Spiralen’ with the Italian plural ending ‘-i’.
For the bioladen Spirali range, the Italian pasta specialist A.S.T.R.A. uses organic bronze dies. These give the pasta, made from Italian durum wheat semolina, a rough surface that absorbs sauces particularly well.

Method:
Use 100 g of pasta, 1 l of water and 10 g of salt. Bring the water to the boil, add salt and then add the pasta. Cook for 8–10 minutes, drain and leave to rest for about 1 minute.
