Herbaria Well-Being Tea

:

In Germany, the harvest festival is traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday in October. The custom of celebrating a feast for harvest exists in almost all cultures. For thousands of years the welfare of the Village community depended directly on the yield of the harvest. Only if one was able to stock plenty of supplies and firewood one could get through the winter quite well. In addition, the harvest season was connected with hard work. After spending weeks on the field for the whole day, the harvest festival was the beginning of a somewhat quieter time. With the increasing cultivation of potatoes this period shifted. For some varieties of the tasty tuber are only harvested in October. In order to make harvesting a little more pleasant in the cold autumn wind, a potato fire was made to warm up at the end of each day, which also included some potatoes which were roasted in the embers. The potato fires were popular for countless generations. Even today people in the countryside meet around a fire to drink beer, roast potatoes and end the day together.

In Germany, autumn fires are usually irregular appointments among friends. In England there is a special day. On the 5 November is Guy Fawkes Day, when the United Kingdom commemorades the „Powder Conspiracy“ of 1605. Their mastermind, Guy Fawkes deposited 36 barrels with black powder under the cellars of the English Parliament. He wanted to blow up the building on the day of its opening including the political elite of the country. Many Englishmen are joking that Guy Fawks was the only man ever to come to the Parliament with honest intentions. The conspiracy, however, was revealed, the parliament remained intact and Fawks was arrested. Since then, on 5 November, torchlight procession take place and Guy Fawks dolls are burned publicly. For that people build great bonfires in many places. The children often gather combustably material weeks ahead, because in big cities, of course, every district wants to have the largest fire.
