The shelf life of Zotter chocolates is stated as just a few months from the time they leave the factory. As Zotter does not use stabilisers or preservatives, the chocolates have a natural shelf life. Natural fats such as cocoa butter, nuts or alcohol act as natural preservatives. The shorter best-before date is therefore a sign of high-quality Zotter chocolate.
