Speick Natural Cosmetics looks back on a history spanning more than 90 years. While the precious Speick oil had been used in the Orient for baths and massages since ancient times, the medicinal plant that gave it its name had almost been forgotten in Europe. The small, inconspicuous Speick plant prefers lime-poor soils in treeless alpine regions at altitudes starting around 1,800 meters. The intense high-altitude light, clear air, and the interplay of cold winters and warm summers endow the plant each year with its concentrated root strength. Delicate and modest, the plant grows to a maximum height of just 15 centimeters. Although its pale yellow blossoms do not stand out in the colorful alpine flora, the plant's characteristic fragrance is clearly noticeable. Walter Rau, the founder of Speick Natural Cosmetics, recognized the great potential of the Speick plant as early as 1928. The unique essential oil, extracted gently, remains a key component of all Speick products to this day. The Speick product range includes not only bar soaps, but also deodorants, shower gels, shaving foam, as well as hair and sun care products.
