Like all other vegetable oil soaps from Savon du Midi, the Karité soaps are made by small soap manufacturers in Provence, France. The karité soap owes its name to the karité butter it contains, which is also known as shea butter. This is the vegetable fat obtained from the fruits of the karité tree (aka. shea tree). Because of its moisturizing qualities, shea butter has been used for skin care in Africa for centuries. The addition of shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii Butter) makes soap softer and skin cleansing more gentle.

The soaps all smell pretty good, although I wouldn't need verbena any more. The set is great because you can try out different varieties and I now know which ones I will buy again and which ones I'd rather not

Unfortunately, the main ingredient of these soaps is the ecologically very critical palm oil/oil/fat. It is a pity that not even these soaps (also offered in many organic shops) are produced without palm oil - just like conventional soap. Scent and smoothness (here also thanks to cheap palm oil) are pleasant and tempt to buy.

Hauptbestandteil dieser Seifen ist leider das ökologisch sehr kritische Palm-/Öl/fett. Sehr schade, das nicht einmal diese (auch in vielen Bioläden angebotenen) Seifen ohne Palmöl hergestellt werden - ebenso wie konventionelle Seife. Duft und Geschmeidigkeit (hier auch dank billigem Palmöl) sind angenehm und verführen zum Kauf.
