Application:
Shake before use. Unless otherwise prescribed, adults and adolescents from 10 years take 45 ml per day. 45 ml Floradix with Iron contains 36.8 mg utilizable iron(II). The dosage can be chosen as follows: 2 x 22.5 ml (morning and evening) or 3 x 15 ml (morning, noon and evening). It is best taken cooled half an hour before meals.
Children from 6 to 10 years of age take 2 x 15 ml.
30 ml Floradix with iron corresponds to 24.5 mg iron(II).
Please use the enclosed measuring cup for intake.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
Applications:
In case of increased requirement of iron, if there is an identifiable risk of developing an iron deficiency. There is an increased need for iron in particular in the case of increased iron loss, e.g. during menstruation. Furthermore, there is an increased need for iron during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as during the recovery period after illness.

703.3 - 773.9 mg of iron(II) gluconate (Ph. Eur.) corresponding to 81.75 mg of iron(II) ions.
Other ingredients:
Ascorbic acid, aqueous extract (1:28.2) from a mixture of hibiscus blossoms, bitter fennel, carrot, couch grass root stock, yarrow, Angelica root, horsetail, ribwort leaves, juniper berries, chicory root, bitter orange peel (3:2,3:2,3:2,3:2,3:1,15:1,15:1,15:1,15:1:0.64), extracting agent: water, yeast autolysate, concentrated red grape juice, concentrated cherry juice, concentrated pear juice, concentrated blackberry juice, concentrated black currant juice, honey, rose hip extract, fructose syrup 70%, orange flavouring, orange aroma, water.

Contraindications:
Do not use in case of iron accumulation, iron utilisation disorders or if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. No adequate studies are available on the use of this medicinal product in children under 6 years of age. Therefore, the solution should not be used in children of this age group.
Warnings and precautions:
In order to avoid the risk of a possible iron overdose, special caution is
is advised if dietary or other iron salt supplements are used. If there is pre-existing inflammation or ulceration of the gastrointestinal mucosa, the the benefit of treatment should be carefully weighed against the risk of aggravation of gastrointestinal disease. This medicine contains fructose and invert sugar (mixture of glucose and fructose). Please only take the solution after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from an intolerance to over certain sugars. The solution may be harmful to your teeth (caries).
Interactions with other medicines:
Iron salts reduce the absorption of tetracyclines, penicillamine, gold compounds, levodopa and methyldopa.
Iron salts affect the absorption of quinolone antibiotics (e.g. ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin).
Iron salts decrease the absorption of thyroxine in patients receiving thyroxine replacement therapy.
The absorption of iron is reduced by concomitant use of cholestyramine, antacids (Ca++, Mg++, Al+++ salts) and calcium and magnesium supplements. The simultaneous intake of iron salts with salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can increase the irritating effect of iron on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.
Iron-binding substances such as phosphates, pyruvates or oxalates as well as dairy products, coffee and black and green tea inhibit iron absorption.
The solution should be taken either half an hour before or 2 hours after these substances.

Side effects:
Like all medicines, Floradix with Iron may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects are:
Allergic reactions may occur. At the first sign of an allergic reaction (e.g. facial swelling, skin rash), stop taking the solution immediately. Gastrointestinal disorders, such as stomach pressure, bloating and constipation. As with all iron-containing medicines, a completely harmless dark colouring of the stool may occur. This stool colouration is harmless.
In individual cases, the intake of liquid iron preparations may darken the teeth.
This can usually be removed by brushing the teeth thoroughly.

: Review date:I have compared the iron content of different liquid preparations and this one is my test winner. It contains bivalent iron, which can be absorbed better than trivalent iron. The amount of usable iron contained per dose is considerable. I have not found this with any other supplier so far. The herbal blood tastes like herbal juice, which tasted good to me. I can also imagine that children find the taste OK or maybe even like it. Overall, a great supplement that I would recommend. Women of childbearing age who are prone to iron deficiency can certainly benefit from the juice as a regular cure.
Ich habe den Eisengehalt von verschiedenen Flüssigpräparaten verglichen und dieser hier ist mein Testsieger. Es enthält zweiwertiges Eisen, welches besser aufgenommen werden kann als dreiwertiges. Die Menge an verwertbarem Eisen, welche pro Dosis enthalten ist, ist beachtlich. Habe ich bisher bei keinem anderen Anbieter gefunden. Das Kräuterblut schmeckt nach kräuterigem Saft, welcher mir gut gemundet hat. Ich kann mir auch vorstellen, dass Kinder den Geschmack in Ordnung finden oder vielleicht sogar mögen. Insgesamt ein klasse Präparat, welches ich weiter empfehlen würde. Frauen im gebärfähigem Alter, welche zu Eisenmangel neigen, können von dem Saft als regelmäßige Kur sicherlich profitieren.

: Review date:Normally I don't like iron supplements because I don't like the dominant taste. But with herbal blood, I was pleasantly surprised. You can smell the different herbs, but the mixture tastes really good. Extra plus point from me that it does not contain alcohol, so Floradix is also suitable for children.
Normalerweise mag ich Eisenpräparate nicht so gerne da ich den dominanten Geschmack nicht mag. Aber bei Kräuterblut war ich angenehm überrascht. Man riecht zwar die verschiedenen Kräuter, die Mischung schmeckt aber richtig gut. Extra Pluspunkt von mir, daß kein Alkohol enthalten und Floradix somit also auch für Kinder geeignet ist.
