The olive wood is beautifully grained. I've been using the hairbrush for a year now and occasionally washing it out with mild shampoo is absolutely sufficient to enjoy it for a long time. My hair is chin-length and straight. The grip is good. The bristles are harder than those of a pig, but I think the brush has its limits with wavy, longer hair. However, it's great for my hair and nice to look at in the bathroom!
