It began with a gut feeling, grew into certainty, and ultimately became the driving force behind a diverse range of sustainable fish products and plant-based organic foods. In 2007, as Jürg Knoll and Harri Butsch became increasingly aware of the limitations of industrial food production, they made the decision to completely reshape their company — committing fully to sustainable and transparent food. With followfish, customers were given the opportunity to access detailed information about their product’s journey, from the method of ecological fishing to the origin of each individual fish, using a tracking code. The vision of saving the oceans resonated with many and quickly turned followfish into one of the most successful tinned fish brands in the supermarket. This success also reaffirmed their commitment to their broader vision of a better world. And so the journey continued, this time with followfood and a new mission: to protect and restore soil. As the foundation of agriculture, soil is the planet’s most vital resource for sustaining life. The tracking codes developed by these sustainability pioneers from the German shores of Lake Constance allow full traceability of followfood products all the way back to the farm. Yet followfood is not only defined by transparency and environmental responsibility — above all, it stands for delicious foods crafted without unnecessary additives. Enjoy down-to-earth flavour: from tinned fish and plant-based alternatives to organic spreads, pasta dishes, soups, and sweet or savoury snacks made from ingredients grown in ecological agriculture.
