Die Stadtgärtner Pesto Basil Mini Garden Seed Set. Revered as a royal herb in ancient times, basil was cultivated as a fragrant and medicinal plant as early as 1000 BC. It was considered a magic herb and was said to be effective against mythical creatures and evil spirits. In the kitchen, basil harmonises very well with olive oil and is used to flavour pasta of all kinds, as well as tomato and pepper salads.

Contains organic seeds for basil (Ocimum basilicum), suitable growing soil, a suitable planting stick or bed marker and waterproof packaging that is used as a planter. With the detailed and beginner-friendly instructions, growing is child's play.

Basil thrives best in very sunny and warm locations. Also excellent on the windowsill in the mini garden until harvest. It loves sheltered spots without wind and heavy rain, as it suffers just as much from waterlogging as from drought.
The leaves should only be harvested at the tips of the shoots so that it retains its bushy appearance and always cuts a fine figure on your balcony or in the garden.
