Recipe tip: Chestnut fondant with vanilla
Ingredients:
  • 200 g chestnut puree with vanilla
  • 40 g butter
  • 40 g sugar
  • 60 g flour
  • 2 eggs
Preparation: Beat the eggs with the sugar until foamy. Then add the flour. Warm the chestnut puree with vanilla and add the melted butter. Add the mixture to the egg mixture. Pour everything into greased and floured bowls. 
Cook for 7 minutes at 220°C. Leave to cool slightly and then turn out of the mould while lukewarm. Enjoy your meal.

I know chestnut puree mainly from France, where it is used a lot in desserts and sweet pastries. That's exactly how it's sold there. Nice memories of the old days.

Maronenpüree kenne ich hauptsächlich aus Frankreich, wo es viel zu Desserts und süßem Gebäck verwendet wird. Genau so wird es dort auch verkauft. Schöne Erinnerungen an früher.

At first I had to make friends with the chestnut puree for a short time, as it is without sugar, but then it tastes great. We had 2-3 spoonfuls with the semolina porridge as well as rice pudding cups and it was also very tasty on its own. I will gladly buy it again. The children are used to sweeter things, eat it only with some semolina porridge or rice pudding. We also found the chestnut puree delicious on crispbread with butter. It's important to put the jar in the fridge immediately after opening, as I forgot to do this, as mould will quickly form. I will order the chestnut puree again.

Erstmal kurzes Anfreunden mit dem Maronenpüree, da es ohne Zucker ist, aber dann schmeckt es hervorragend. Wir haben uns 2-3 Löffel zum Grießbrei als auch Milchreis-Becher dazu gegessen und auch allein sehr schmackhaft. Kaufe ich gerne wieder. Die Kinder sind süßeres gewohnt, essen es nur mit etwas Grießbrei oder Milchreis. Auf Knäckebrot m. Butter haben wir das Maronenpüree auch lecker gefunden. Wichtig ist nach dem Öffnen, das Glas sofort i.d. Kühlschrank. hab ich vergessen, dann entsteht rasch Schimmel. Ich bestelle das Maronenpüree wieder.

Unfortunately, I am a little disappointed. Or my expectations were too high. I know Danival products and have been very satisfied up to now. But here I miss a little bit of the taste of the chestnuts and I only taste something of the vanilla when I try hard. I have tried it, but I will not order it again.

Leider bin ich ein bisschen enttäucht. Oder meine Erwartungen waren zu hoch. Denn ich kenne Produkte von Danival und war bis dato sehr zufrieden. Doch hier fehlt mir ein bisschen der Eigengeschmack der Maronen und von der Vanille schmecke ich nur etwas, wenn ich mich anstrenge. Ich habe es probiert, aber noch einmal bestellen werde ich es nicht.

It's a little too lukewarm for my taste. I like chestnuts and I like their own taste. But not much of that has remained. I also miss the natural sweetness. The vanilla content, on the other hand, is well balanced. It has a pleasant consistency and you can even taste a few pieces. And when sweetened a little, it tastes quite good.

Für meinen Geschmack ist es etwas zu lasch. Ich mag Maronen und ich mag ihren Eigengeschmack. Doch ist von dem nicht viel geblieben. Auch besagte Natursüße vermisse ich. Der Vanilleanteil ist dagegen gut abgestimmt. Es hat eine angenehme Konsistenz und man schmeckt sogar ein paar Stückchen heraus. Und ein bisschen nachgesüßt schmeckt es dann doch ganz gut.
