I was looking for a product to gently but effectively remove limescale from my kettle. Vinegar was out of the question for me! Grandma's home recipes swear by citric acid. But I'm more of a practical person than one who cleans around with a cloth and lemon juice in all sorts of corners where limescale builds up. I'm more than happy to leave that job to others - like the Anti-Calcification Citric Acid product from Christiane Hinsch. I put two teaspoons of the crystalline powder, which does not emit a pungent smell like vinegar, into a good litre of water, heated it directly in the kettle to about 50-60 degrees and then let it sit for maybe 10 minutes. All limescale residues were gone immediately! To be on the safe side, I boiled pure water twice more afterwards and then poured it away to remove any possible residue of the product in the kettle. Simply great. There are other applications on the pot, with which you can remove a lot of limescale, urine scale and soap residue and even rust with quite few grams of the anti-calc citric acid. I haven't tried these yet, but if it worked so well in my first attempt with the kettle....

Ich hatte ein Produkt gesucht, mit dem ich die Kalkablagerungen in meinem Wasserkocher sanft aber effektiv entfernen kann. Essig kam für mich gar nicht erst in Frage! Omas Hausrezepte schwören auf Zitronensäure. Doch ich bin eher praktisch veranlagt, als dass ich mit einem Lappen und Zitronensaft in allen möglichen Ecken, wo sich Kalk ablagert, herum putze. Diese Arbeit überlasse ich sehr gern den anderen - wie dem Anti-Kalk Zitronensäure Produkt von Christiane Hinsch. Ein kristallines Pulver, das keinen stechenden Geruch wie beispielsweise Essig verströmt, habe ich mit zwei Teelöffeln auf einen guten Liter Wasser gegeben, direkt im Wasserkocher auf etwa 50-60 Grad erwärmt und anschließend vielleicht 10 Minuten ruhen lassen. Alle Kalkrückstände waren sofort weg! Zur Sicherheit habe ich danach noch zwei Mal pures Wasser gekocht und dieses dann weg geschüttet, um mögliche Rückstände des Produkts im Kocher zu entfernen. Einfach klasse. Auf dem Topf stehen weitere Anwendungsgebiete drauf, mit denen man mit recht wenig Gramm der Anti-Kalk Zitronensäure viel Kalk-, Urinstein- und Seifenreste und sogar Rost beseitigen kann. Diese habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert, doch wenn es bei meinem ersten Versuch mit dem Wasserkocher schon so gut geklappt hat...
