Cattier Clay Series
Thousands of years ago it was not easy for those who appreciated clean skin and freshly washed hair. For a thorough clean-up they eventually needed a lake or a river nearby. Especially in the southern countries it was difficult to find suitable places. If there finally was found a spot without crocodiles or a strong river current it had to be shared with other animals, such as elephants. When people watched the animals doing their skin care, they made an interesting observation: Rhinos, hippos and elephants enjoyed extensive mud baths. For this purpose the pachyderms rolled their bodies in the clayey mud at the banks until they were completely covered in it. This way their delicate skin was protected against sunburn and insect bites.
Since humans are curious by nature, it did not take long until they started copying the animals. Just a dip in the mud and they were completely covered with the gray-brown mass. In the sun the mud quickly dried and crumbled off. The result was as pleasant to man as it was to the elephants. The mud bound fat, blackheads and dirt particles from skin and hair. After drying everything just crumbled off together. The basis of medical clay was discovered. Healing earth is one of the oldest natural remedies of mankind. The ancient Egyptians used Nile mud to fight inflammation and rheumatic afflictions. Later, doctors in ancient Greece began to sieve the clay finely and prescribed it for internal applications as well. By the intake, substances and fats should be bound in the stomach and digestive tract to be excreted naturally. Of course you cannot make medical clay from every soil. When speaking of healing earth, generally a powder that is obtained from a particular clay type is meant.
In ancient times the valuable clay was dug up mainly on the islands of Lemnos, then was washed and pressed into a round shape. These large ”tablets“ were also stamped with a seal, which is why medical clay is also known as sealed earth.
Today medical clay especially proves its value within skin care. Especially when suffering from acne, pimples and impure skin, a clay mask can significantly improve the complexion. When the mask dries, the clay binds excess fats and impurities of the skin. How versatile healing earth can be used in natural cosmetics is shown in the range of the French natural cosmetics brand Cattier Paris.
The Cattier Face Scrub White Clay frees the skin of impurities and is thus an ideal preparation for a face mask. Cattier has developed four different masks on the basis of clay: Pink clay for sensitive skin, Green clay for oily skin, Black and Purple clay for all skin types. The recipes are accurately aligned to the needs of each skin type. But clay is not only used in facial care products. The Hand Cream White Clay supports stressed hands with valuable organic vegetable oils and nutrients. Even in the ingredients of its toothpastes Cattier uses clay. Since clay is rich in natural minerals, the gums are strengthened. With Cattier Paris you can enjoy the originality of natural cosmetics.
