Bingenheimer Saatgut Organic Seeds of Edamame Hokkai Green. Edamame is a special type of soya bean that is eaten fresh. It is harvested like sugar snap peas and usually cooked briefly together with the pods. The ‘Hokkai Green’ variety forms particularly large grains, is robust and uncomplicated to grow. It should be sown in well-heated soil to a depth of approx. 2 cm. As the harvest period is relatively short at approx. 10 days, it is advisable to sow several rows staggered over time.

Tip: Classic preparation of snack edamame: Place fresh (or frozen) pods in lightly salted boiling water, cook for 8-12 minutes and drain well in a sieve. Place the hot pods in a bowl, sprinkle with coarse sea salt and ‘zing’ them out by feel.
