Alviana Hair Care Products

:

Why do we even need shampoo? Wouldn't it be more practical to use the same soap for skin, hair and hands? For centuries, there was only one bar of curd soap in most households. And it was often used not just for body care, but also for washing clothes. For a long time, perfumed soap was a luxury that only the wealthy could afford. But even with it, washing the hair was no pleasure. For the soap irritated the sensitive scalp. Because soap is alkaline, it causes the hair structure to swell. This makes the hair clean to be sure, but it looks dull and is difficult to comb. To protect the hair and make it supple again, it used to be treated with a rinse- a mixture of vinegar and water. This neutralises the pH value of the soap and restores the balance in the hair.

For centuries, washing hair was so time-consuming that many people put it off as long as possible. Hot water was only available if it was heated beforehand. Without running water from the shower, rinsing out soap and rinse was a laborious task. And the subsequent air-drying of the hair - depending on its length - could take almost the whole day. Most of the population simply did not have time for this. For this reason, greasy hair was powdered or - as was common in many places in the 18th century - hidden under an opulent wig. Those who could afford neither powder nor wig wore their long hair either pinned up or under a headscarf. Until the late 19th century, washing hair was for many people more of a necessary evil than a beneficial care and beauty ritual. This only changed in the course of the 20th century with running hot water.

Parallel to the triumph of the shower, more and more hair and body care products came onto the market. In 1904, the first shampoo was introduced in powder form, and since 1930, shampoo has also been available in liquid form. Today, shampoo and shower gel usually stand side by side in the bathroom. Although there are many similarities in the ingredients, the two products are by no means interchangeable. Shower gels either contain soap and dry out the hair, or they contain moisturizing substances and make the hair look greasy. Shampoos are supposed to remove oil, dirt and product residues from the hair without irritating the scalp. And because dry, brittle or quick-greasing hair have different needs, choosing the right shampoo is especially important.
