Although both peanut purée and peanut butter consist of ground peanuts, there are distinct differences between them. Peanut purée is a pure, natural product made from 100% peanuts. Free from additives, it is rather runny to creamy, as it contains only the nut's own oil. Peanut butter, on the other hand, becomes firm, exceptionally creamy, and perfectly spreadable through the addition of sugar, salt, and fats or oils.
